The TB20 distributed IO system, made by Helmholz, is a high quality, low cost IO system that can fit onto a wide variety of buses (PROFIBUS, PROFINET, CAN-bus, ModbusTCP, Ethernet IP, EtherCAT) and comes in a very small footprint.

Helmholz TB20 Bus Coupler

A functioning TB20 configuration will always require a bus coupler and at least one peripheral module.

A functioning TB20 configuration will always require a bus coupler and at least one peripheral module, but can accommodate up to 64 modules of any kind connected in series with the bus coupler. The bus coupler supports hot-swap for replacing modules during operation.

TB20 PROFINET bus coupler

The PROFINET bus coupler is designed to connect a PROFINET bus to TB20 peripheral modules. It can accommodate up to 63 modules of any kind connected in series with the bus coupler. The bus coupler supports hot-swapping for replacing modules during operation.

In addition, it will recognize all connected peripheral modules and assign each module the corresponding inputs/outputs from the process image table.

TB20 EtherNet/IP bus coupler

The EtherNet/IP bus coupler features an integrated two-port switch that allows for star and line topology configurations.

A large I/O image table size of one kbyte makes it possible to implement comprehensive and complex systems.

TB20 DeviceNet slave bus coupler

The DeviceNet Slave bus coupler connects the DeviceNet bus to peripheral modules. As a group 2 server, the coupler supports the “Predefined Master/Slave Connection Set” in accordance with sections 3-6 of the “CIP Networks Library Vol. 3.” In addition, the slave software, with the help of an “Unconnected Message Manager“ (UCMM), enables the dynamic setting up of multiple communications channels.

TB20 CANOpen bus coupler

The CANopen bus coupler is designed to connect a CAN bus to TB20 peripheral modules.

It supports the CANopen protocol as defined in DS301 and uses the DSP-401 profile for digital and analog I/O modules.

TB20 PROFIBUS-DP bus coupler

The PROFIBUS-DP bus coupler is designed to connect a PROFIBUS bus to TB20 peripheral modules. It supports the DP-V0 and DP-V1 protocols.

It will recognize all connected peripheral modules and assign each module the corresponding inputs/outputs from the process image table.

TB20 EtherCAT bus coupler

The EtherCAT bus coupler makes it possible to access data from peripheral modules using the EtherCAT protocol.

The EtherCAT bus coupler supports the Modular Device Profile.

A large I/O image table size of 1,024 bytes makes it possible to implement comprehensive and complex systems.

TB20 SSI Encoder module

The TB20 SSI encoder interface makes it possible to connect an SSI encoder with a transmission rate of up to 2 MHz. And, since the number of data bits is also adjustable, the module provides utmost flexibility in terms of supported encoder resolutions.
Data values can be in binary code or reflected binary code (Gray code), and can be normalized so as to ensure that only position-relevant bits will be transmitted.

TB20 Strain Gauge Weighing module

The weighing module serves the purpose of measuring and processing signals from weight, torque, or force sensors. The weighing module enables the direct connection of a load cell in the strain gauge full bridge circuit (voltage-fed bridge circuit).

TB20 Counter Economy, 24V, 32 bit

Counters are used to detect pulses that are faster than a controller’s cycles, i.e., signals that the controller will be unable to detect properly and that therefore need to be pre-processed.

The counter module records the edges of 24 V signals as pulses. The pulses are counted and the current count value is always available to the PLC.

The counting function can be enabled by PLC control commands.

The counter value can be preassigned or reset by the PLC

TB20 Counter module, 32 bit

The counter module detects the edges of 24 V signals as pulses. The impulses can be counted or converted into a frequency, rotational speed, or period. The counter module features an additional 24 V input and a 24 V output for a direct response to start pulses and to quick system state changes.

TB20 Energy Meter

The Energy Meter function module for the TB20 IO system records all essential measured values ​​from AC 230 V networks with regards to current and voltage measurement.

Input currents are coupled through current transformers. The Energy Meter module is designed for a maximum secondary current of 1A or 5A.
